Accessibility Welcome Guide

Plan your visit with confidence. We tailor private tours around your needs and preferences.

We are committed to inclusive, equitable access. Whether you’re a wheelchair user, have low vision or hearing loss, experience chronic pain or fatigue, or simply prefer a slower pace, we will work with you to design a comfortable, memorable journey across Ireland and Britain.

Key commitments

  • WCAG 2.2 AA-aligned website experience.
  • Clear pre-travel information and transparent feasibility notes.
  • Tailored itineraries that respect your pace, comfort, and interests.
  • Collaboration with partners who share our standards of accessibility and care.

Planning your accessible tour

  • Step-free and Low-Step Options
    • We prioritise step-free routes and accessible entrances wherever available.
    • We identify sites with lifts/ramps, accessible restrooms, and seating.
    • Where historic buildings limit access, we provide alternatives or virtual/curated options.
  • Vehicles and Transfers
    • Private vehicles can be arranged to support mobility needs; please share dimensions/requirements for mobility devices in advance.
    • We plan rest stops, smoothest route choices, and proximity drop-offs.
  • Accommodation
    • We pre-verify accessible rooms (roll-in showers, grab rails, bed height, space to manoeuvre).
    • We request visual room layouts/photos and confirm key dimensions where required.
    • Service animal policies are confirmed and communicated.
  • Sensory and Cognitive Accessibility
    • We can suggest quieter times, less-crowded routes, and calming spaces.
    • We provide clear, structured daily plans, with predictable timing and optional breaks.
    • On request, we can minimise loud environments and suggest sensory-friendly alternatives.
  • Hearing and Vision Support
    • We can request written materials, captioned content, and guides trained to communicate clearly at a comfortable pace.
    • Where feasible, we arrange induction loop availability or alternatives and ensure guides face guests while speaking.
    • We provide high-contrast, large-print PDFs on request.
  • Medical, Dietary, and Fatigue Considerations
    • We adapt pacing (shorter walking segments, more seated experiences).
    • We communicate dietary needs (allergies, intolerances, religious requirements) to our partners.
    • We build in rest periods and elevator/lift preferences where possible.

On-the-day support

  • Guides briefed on your access needs and preferences.
  • Flexible adjustments when conditions change (weather, crowds, unforeseen closures).
  • Emergency and backup options communicated in your itinerary.

What to tell us in advance

To tailor your tour effectively, please share:

  • Mobility aids used (type, size, weight) and transfer preferences.
  • Preferred walking distance and tolerance for gradients/uneven ground.
  • Visual/hearing support needs; sensory triggers to avoid.
  • Room accessibility requirements (bathroom layout, bed height, turning circle).
  • Medical or dietary notes you wish to disclose.
  • Any other preferences that increase your comfort and enjoyment.

Limitations and transparency

Some heritage sites and rural locations have inherent access constraints (narrow staircases, cobblestones, listed buildings). Where full access isn’t possible, we’ll:

  • Explain constraints clearly and early.
  • Offer the best available alternatives or adjusted experiences.
  • Provide realistic timing to reduce fatigue and risk.
